Nor’Easters, Sick Cats and Boilers

Art always makes life better.

One of my recent paintings really drove home my desire for less stress and more fresh air. More nature, and fewer expenses. It’s called “Hanging Laundry” and the Scottish hills are the backdrop. Now, I say what a great life she appears to have, and I long to get lost in it, but I know how lucky I am. Life will always throw problems my way, but I handle them and keep moving.

Still, I long for this scene of domestic tranquility. My Roots series is all about the places we call home, whether it’s a person, a house, a city, a country, or just a feeling that we get. A place that calls to us, and comforts us. I suppose today that’s at my art table, the Nor’Easter banging away outside…. the cat licking all his fur off… and the boiler bill waiting for me to address it. First world problems. Painting them away for awhile.
