I’m sitting here in the gallery alone this afternoon. I’m sure Walmart is packed with shoppers, but nobody is walking around downtown. I’m using this time to draw, meditate and write. I sold a painting yesterday, and have brought this Hamsa painting to replace it. I’ve painted four this past week. I’m a little obsessed. The third eye is right up there with nudes and cats for me. I’m just not able to buckle down and get serious. But here I am, gallery sitting, surrounded by art, listening to Amy Winehouse on a sunny day. Who would have thought? At my job I’m often treated like just some schmuck, which of course carries far too much weight for my psyche. But the moment I step off the property the lights come back on, the world is filled with color, and my heart finds it’s joy. Don’t be a schmuck.
